About The Blog

The purpose of this blog is to provide to security professionals what I never got when I was trying to get into security. I have now been in security for about 6 years and at times I reflect back to the struggle I had trying to get into security. First and foremost, cyber security is not for the faint of heart. I have seen more people come and go in security than you’d expect. Security is a journey for the individual to always be in search of more information, more knowledge, more understanding. In my view a security professional should be someone always asking the questions that need to be asked when they need to be asked, to be successful in this field you have to be willing to stand up to leadership and voice your opinion with sound reasoning, proof  and technical knowledge. It has not happened often when I have had to verbally go against my management but when it has happened it has provided value each time.

The security field is very unforgiving at times and especially for experienced professionals. This field is for people that want to get after it, make a change for good within companies and possibly the world. It isn’t often that we get to make or influence these changes but it is required that when the opportunity comes for you to be ready with whatever it takes. I am hoping that with this blog I can at help someone either get into cyber security, expand their skills in cyber security and/or even motivate people to stay in cyber security. As I study and take certifications I will be posting those details here, I will not post test questions but I will post topics and areas that readers should know to pass the exam. I will discuss the various paths in security and what it takes to be successful in that path. I will be listening to my readers feedback regarding topics and areas of discussion to bring to this blog. I will also keep my readers up to date on what projects I have going on in my life that are security related in some way. I hope you enjoy this journey that I am on with this blog.
